Privacy policy

Kut.cards Browser Importer

Effective August 10, 2026. This policy explains the data handled by the Chrome extension and its Kut.cards account connection.

What the extension handles

The extension accesses a webpage only after the user clicks Capture this article. It reads the page URL, readable article text, title, author, publication, publication date, DOI, and author qualifications when those fields are available. Users can edit or remove every field before upload. It does not collect browser history, cookies, publisher credentials, school-library credentials, payment information, or content from other tabs.

Local queue and account connection

Captured drafts are stored in Chrome extension storage on the user’s device until the user deletes or uploads them. Kut.cards receives no captured article until the user selects it and clicks Send selected to Kut.cards. Account pairing stores a revocable access token in extension storage; the user’s Kut.cards password is never provided to the extension.

How uploaded data is used

Uploaded article text and citation information are placed in the user’s private importer queue and used only to generate, organize, review, and export debate evidence requested by that user. AI card-cutting requests are processed by the Kut.cards card-cutting service. Kut.cards does not use imported article content for advertising and does not sell it.

Sharing and human access

Kut.cards does not disclose imported content to third parties except when necessary to operate the requested card-cutting service, protect the service from abuse, comply with law, or complete a business transfer. Humans do not read private imported content unless the user gives explicit permission for support, access is necessary for a security investigation, or disclosure is legally required.

Security, retention, and deletion

Data is transmitted to Kut.cards over HTTPS. Imported drafts are access-controlled by account and can be deleted from the importer page. Browser access can be revoked from Account Settings. Deleting a local draft removes it from the extension; deleting an uploaded draft removes it from the Kut.cards queue, subject to short-lived operational backups and legal requirements.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Kut.cards’ use of information received through Chrome extension APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The data is used only to provide or improve the extension’s single purpose: user-directed capture and transfer of research sources into the Kut.cards debate-evidence workflow.

Contact and changes

Questions or deletion requests can be sent through the Kut.cards account contact channel. Material changes to collection or use will be disclosed in the extension before new data handling begins, and this page will be updated with a new effective date.
