The best way to deal with patent trolls is to abolish patents. The proposed legislation you referred to in your editorial ("Patent trolls in crosshairs," March 19) may cut out some of the worst abuses, though government has a long record of making things worse. But the very idea of patents is to stop somebody from doing something that will benefit you.
Holders of patents claim lots of benefits, but research consistently shows these benefits can't be found or are the reverse: limits that hamper us. The only actual benefit is for them, in the form of money from our pocket.
