House Democrats’ campaign arm raised nearly $1 million online in the first 24 hours after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek reelection — the group's single best online fundraising day of the cycle. Between 3 p.m. and midnight, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised more than $1,300 per minute, according to numbers the committee shared first with POLITICO. The average donation was $50, more than double its usual average. The surge of cash is a comforting signal to Democrats that Vice President Kamala Harris could inject their ticket with the kind of enthusiasm that was lacking under Biden. Harris has seen a groundswell of donations of her own in the last day, and the DCCC numbers suggest that is trickling down-ballot as well. “The enthusiasm from grassroots donors to elect a Democratic House Majority is at an all-time high," said Courtney Rice, a DCCC spokeswoman.
