What are other examples of sui generis protection?
Certain parts of the semiconductor industry have been in a sui generis system since 1984 when an act called the Semiconductor Chip Protection Act was passed. It’s the best example of a US created sui generis system that has been successful.
The EU protects databases through sui generis. The literature about whether that has been a success is more mixed.
There are some other more obscure examples but those are the most important two to know.
